No Future In Roller Derby

On the ground is where Eryn spent most of Thursday night! She put on roller skates for the first time at a birthday party for one of her friends at school. I have not laughed that hard in a really long time. She put those skates on and could not stand up to save her life. Her little legs would roll forward while her body fell backward. She was not giving up! She and another friend pulled themselves along the outside wall of the rink, and when they fumbled their way towards the middle they were stuck...crawling back was the solution. After a while, she did ok on the carpet, but the rink and the tile were not pretty.
I feel bad that I have not taken her before now. She can't wait to go back, and carries around her free ticket she got as we left that night. So I guess this is a "To Be Continued."

Why do roller skating rinks not know how to use matching laces on the skates? Almost as bad a bowling shoes.

Lost

When this tooth started to wiggle, I knew we would never hear the end of it! She waited and waited, and wiggled and wiggled, until she finally got that very first tooth out! She has no clue where she put the $2 from the Tooth Fairy, but isn't too worried because tooth #2 is now loose. Exciting stuff for a 5 year old!

Four Months

1-28-09
Paige's little world has completely changed in the last month! I am back at work, and she is now settled in at school. She has 3 friends in her baby class and is well taken care of by a sweet lady from our church. Steven gets to pick her up early on his 2 days off, and let her sleep in at home 1-2 days a week. She is doing very well, and we couldn't be more pleased with her daycare (which is extremely close to our house).

Do you think they make Rogaine for babies? Such a mean picture I know, but I just couldn't help it! She does not cry at night when she wakes up to eat; She turns her head from side to side until we hear her, and has rubbed all of those cute red curls plum off! I can't wait until it gets longer so that we can tell if her curls will stay. Maybe we will have the next "Annie" star on Broadway!

Inspired

Little Eryn met a "real author" today. She has developed quite an interest in writing stories, and this experience meant a lot to her. She writes mostly of mermaids and fairies, and seems to have a natural storytelling ability. She got a storybook kit from Uncle Todd and Christan for Christmas and has an ongoing story that she works on several days a week.
She skipped over the "I like" stories and went straight to her own narratives. I heard her at the table thinking outloud this week and as she said, "poof, she became a mermaid," she was writing that exact phrase! (My FBE girls would love the voice & word choice even if organization still needs some work!)
Susan Stevens Crummel presented an excellent show for the kids and I just loved what she told them at the end... "You guys better get busy writing and illustrating because I am getting old and we need new authors to put books on these shelves!" (she was speaking in the library)
The students were given the opportunity to order books and have them autographed; you are looking at one very excited young learner!
