9 Months

This is where you can find Paige on a regular basis: at her toy bucket and stroller for her baby. She weighs 16 pounds now and is very busy...way too busy to look at a camera! She would very much like to help out with the chips and queso, but has not one single tooth in her head...we are still waiting! We keep blaming her sleeping habits on the teeth, but I've been singing the same tune for 6 months now. Eventually we will have teeth AND sleep through the night!

 

Eryn Turns Six

Eryn is very glad to be six. Watching fall and spring birthdays pass you by during the school year is hard! She had a painting party at a ceramics studio and had a blast with her friends. She's already tossing around ideas for her 7th birthday party!

Father's Day 2009

I took Little Red to Round Rock to spend the day on shift with daddy. We had a fish fry and got to visit with friends. Paige is a Momma's Girl these days, so I was lucky to get this shot of my two reds. Happy Father's Day to the most amazing husband and father! Thank you for everything you do for your girls...you are the one I prayed for. I adore you!!

Juh-loppies

Stuffed jalepenos are our newest summer addiction. Steven would grill every single summer night if he could! Our neighbors have to wonder because we do grill several nights a week, and it smells amazing outside! We make a dozen of these just for the two of us. You should try 'em, I promise you'll be addicted too! You can stuff them with just about anything, but we brown regular breakfast sausage and add plain cream cheese to it, and that's it. They have a great flavor...not hot at all, because you remove the seeds and the veins. So yummy!!
*Putting the bacon end over end keeps the filling inside. We have bought and used a couple of different thingies to sit them upright on the grill, but the skewers really do work better.

Recital 2009

We got the hair de-greased just in time. Baking soda did the trick!

One of Eryn's favorite parts are the bouquets of flowers after the finale. That was right up her alley!


Survived 2 days of chaos...but she absolutely loves it!

Lip Gloss Is For LIPS!

Lip gloss is definately not for hair! Eryn and her friend from across the street were playing so nicely in the backyard yesterday afternoon. No yelling and screaming, just sitting quietly on a quilt under the ash tree. Quietly applying a tube of glitter lip gloss to the top of Eryn's head. It has been washed 3 times with Head & Shoulders, and still looks like this...and it's not wet, at all.


The back is nice and clean, silky and shiny. I'm about to soak this child's head in Goo-Gone. I have a thing about a greasy head...it's just not good.

Road Trip

We like signs. Not sure why.


Paige: "Daddy, you just have to run a little bit faster up the stairs, just this much."
Important advice as he's just about to leave our shade tree for his turn!


She knew what she was talking about. He wanted to run it in less than 2.5 minutes, and that he did!

750 Feet Underground

We arrived too late in the afternoon to walk ourselves 750 feet down into the caverns, but the elevator got us there just fine! When the brochure says 56 degrees year-round, they mean it.
I left home without my infamous gray hoodie (can you believe it FB girls?) and thankfully I read that important sentence before we headed to the park. The one store Carlsbad has...Walmart.


Steven with Paige's blanket and my new baby blue hoodie. Yes, it's cold down there! We ended up wrapping Paige's little legs in her blanket when her toes started to feel like ice cubes.


She looks scared to death in this picture, but she actually did very well. She looked around with those big blue eyes quite contently for most of the tour (she got sleepy and had to lay her head down a few times, but never gave up or made a peep).


Resting, not sleeping...just resting. Sweet baby girl!


Soda Straws!! The little elevator dude made us promise not to touch any of the formations, but we REALLY REALLY wanted to!

Kindergarten Graduation

Kindergarten, Done...

...for both of these girls!! Graduation was this morning and Eryn is a self-proclaimed "real" first-grader now! More pictures to come in a slideshow. We are packing up my classroom once again; I cannot even describe the mess, what was I thinking? I have done my kindergarten duty and I salute those who can make a career of it, but I'm moving up to second grade and opening a brand new school in our district next year.

 

We'll be heading to New Mexico tomorrow afternoon (assuming we finish the classroom :-) for Steven to run the challenge in Carlsbad...lots of pictures next week!

Blue Coconut

Eryn enjoying her snow cone during her end of year party at school today. Our PTA sponsors the party and brings in about 6 large inflatable bouncey-thingies. Each grade level has their party outside, during specials, with PTA moms in charge!! LOVE IT!!
